All of Wu De’s scrolls are created with natural, stone-ground pigments. He also uses tea liquor to grind his ink and pigment, meaning that every painting is literally and spiritually infused with tea. They are painted on handmade “rice paper,” called this for its color not because it is literally made of rice. Wu De uses natural-fiber rice paper, made of mulberry, bamboo or other plants. The paper of the scrolls is roughly 35 by 70cm, and mounting adds an additional 12cm in width and 60cm in height, making the total size of a mounted scroll is roughly 47 by 148cm. These scrolls are mounted on silk, dried and then rolled up. They are displayed vertically by unrolling them. They come with silk string that is used to tie them shut when rolled up and to hang them when they are unrolled. You can also choose to add wooden pegs at the bottom of the scroll, which help weigh it down when it is hung and also make rolling it up easier. Wu De’s paintings, are painted on watercolor paper and meant to be framed.
All scrolls are $300 USD with free shipping.
